As a working student, Casey is making a real difference for her clients at Familiehulp.

Casey tells her story

I am Casey, and I am working for Familiehulp while I’m studying. I am currently studying pedagogical counselling, and am still discovering the various facets of my sector. One of the ways I do that is by completing work placements over the summer holidays. I decided to do a work placement at Familiehulp because of my interest in social contact and the opportunity to really help people.

I learn new things every day.

Vacancies for working students

As a working student at Familiehulp, I think it is important to be flexible. You can visit three to four different people in a day, and that requires both concentration and empathy. There are many different situations, from couples still living together to single people, and it is always interesting to engage with them.

Communication is key. You should also be able to perform household tasks, such as vacuuming and ironing. These are the skills you need to master.

Most importantly, you must do the work with the right attitude and really love helping others.

During holiday periods, it is essential that clients are provided with the help they need, even if their regular carer is on leave. This is how we try to make a difference to the lives of the people we serve.

It is an exciting experience to work at Familiehulp while I’m studying; I learn new things every day and have the opportunity to support others in their daily lives.
