Working student care assistant in on-call care

In this position, you provide care and support to people with disabilities who live independently. Along with a few colleagues, you will work as part of a self-organising team that is responsible for delivering tailored care every day of the week.

You answer calls and questions from residents. This may involve various care requests in support of general Activities of Daily Living (ADL).

This could also be about other on-call care requests such as emergency calls (e.g. resident has taken a tumble), urgent requests (e.g. resident needs to go to the toilet), shorter requests (e.g. when a resident has dropped something, needs a drink).

Your regular duties include:

• helping with the customer’s personal care
• warming up meals, preparing sandwiches, etc.
• providing assistance during mealtimes
• helping with some household activities such as tidying up, putting on the washing machine, etc.
• assisting residents with moving around the house, such as getting out of bed and into bed, to and from the toilet, etc.
• social support: active listening, helping with meaningful pastimes
