Who is maternity care for?
Our maternity nurses are here for anyone looking for care and support during a special but sometimes very challenging time:
- pregnant women
- young parents of 1 or more children
- adoptive parents
- parents of still-born children
Would you like additional help and support after the 12-week post-partum period? Family care service staff will be happy to take over our tasks. We will ensure the necessary fine-tuning during a personal meeting.
What can we do for you?
- caring for your baby:
bathing, dressing, changing, caring for the navel area, etc. - support for parents:
while we take over the care of your baby, you can have a quiet shower, catch up on some sleep or just take some time for yourself. We are also there as a listening ear, to share your concerns, questions or experiences. Moreover, we offer advice and share useful information to support you during this special phase. - looking after other children in the family:
playing games with big brother or sister, doing homework, picking them up from school, etc. - home help:
shopping, preparing a fresh meal, light housework and dishes, laundry or ironing, changing and making beds, etc. - advice and practical tips:
on feeding, sleep, how to comfort your baby, etc.

How much does maternity care cost?
The cost of maternity care depends on your income and family composition.
Your mutual health organisation or hospitalisation insurance sometimes also covers some of the costs. You can check this yourself with your mutual health organisation or insurance company.
Practical
- You can request maternity care from one month before your due date until three months after delivery.
- We plan the number of hours of maternity care per week according to your needs. This can range from 2 to 4 hours, including weekends.
When should you request maternity care?
You can do this at any time during your pregnancy, preferably before the sixth month. Or as soon as possible after delivery.
